Ensuring a Ragging-Free Campus

 

  1. What is Ragging?

    Ragging refers to any act that causes physical or psychological harm or apprehension to a student. It includes teasing, abuse, causing harm, and any form of humiliation or harassment.

 

  1. Legal Consequences of Ragging

    Ragging is a criminal offense under Indian law. Those found guilty of ragging can face severe punishments including imprisonment, fines, and expulsion from university. The College adheres to the directives of the Supreme Court of India and UGC regulations on anti-ragging.

    S.K.J. Law College is committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all students. We have a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging and take strict actions against those involved in such activities.

 

  1. Anti-Ragging Committee of College 

    As per the notification in regard to prevention and prohibition of ragging in the University and UGC act, the committee has been constituted to prohibit, prevent and eliminate the scourge of ragging including any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student, or indulging in unfair means or undisciplined activities by any student or students which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension. Ragging is totally banned in the College and anyone found guilty of ragging and/or abetting ragging is liable to be punished as it is a criminal offence.

    About the Committee

    The Anti-Ragging Committee of S.K.J. Law College is established to maintain a safe, secure, and ragging-free environment on campus. It functions in compliance with UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions (2009) and AICTE guidelines.

    The committee monitors student behavior, conducts awareness programs, and addresses complaints related to ragging.

    In light of the provisions laid down in UGC Regulations on curbing the menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009, the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor is pleased to reconstitute an Anti-Ragging Cell of the S.K.J. Law College, Muzaffarpur consisting of the following members: Students' Anti-Ragging.

   4. Functions of the Committee

  1. Prevent and eliminate incidents of ragging in the college.

  2. Conduct workshops, seminars, and awareness campaigns for students and staff.

  3. Receive complaints of ragging in writing, email, or online.

  4. Investigate complaints and take appropriate action as per college rules and UGC regulations.

  5. Maintain records of complaints, actions taken, and follow-up.

  5. Anti-Ragging Policy

The college strictly adheres to the anti-ragging policy which prohibits any form of ragging, harassment, or humiliation of students. Any violation may result in disciplinary action, including suspension, expulsion, or legal action as per UGC guidelines.

 6. Support and Counseling

  The College provides support and counseling services for victims of ragging. Students are encouraged to seek help and report   any incidents without fear of retaliation.

 

Remember: Ragging is a serious offense. If you witness or experience ragging, report it immediately. Your identity will be kept confidential.
